Casting Update: The Dark Knight Rises

There are rumors that Christopher Nolan has been meeting with chicks for a female villain, as well as a love interest for Bruce. The top six contenders are supposedly Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightly. No word yet on who the villain will be (Catwoman? Talia al Ghul? Poison Ivy – doubtful in Nolan’s universe?) For some reason this possible line up of ladies is screaming Catwoman to me… thoughts? Who would you want out of the group to take the role?

If it’s Talia, then most likely one of the younger actresses, to fit with Liam Neeson’s age. So the first two would be out. If it were Catwoman, then the first two make more sense.

Given Nolan’s real world approach, and the mention of an established character (vague on if he meant comics or his movies) then I would lean towards Talia. Catwoman, being a non-powered character would fit though.

I’m not sure what Talia would bring to the story though.

If it’s Talia, I say Anne Hathaway or Natalie Portman. They have the chops and the more exotic look. If it’s Catwoman, Rachel Weisz or Naomi Watts. I have seen Rachel’s bat-shit-crazy and I’m impressed! Naomi has the chops to pull of Catwoman though, so either or.

You know how I feel about Blake Lively, and I just don’t like Keira Knightly. She’s like the less talented little sister of Milla Jovovich.

Couldn’t Nolan tie in both Talia and Catwoman?

It’s about time Bruce quits playing second fiddle and has some women fighting over him.

I think Rachel Weisz would be a good Catwoman and Keira Knightly as Talia (or anyone) is a good fit.

Last I heard there are 3 more names in the pot – Tanit Phoenix, Piper Perebo, and Marion Cotillard.
