Nerd Fight: Battle #26

It’s that time again. To reiterate, every Friday the Cupcake Rogues will randomly pick 2 characters to do battle – whether it be Marvel, DC, female, male, mutant, human, or human that pretends to be a mutant with magic (I’m looking at you, Juggernaut), they are all possible. Once we’ve randomly selected our two, they will go head to head in several categories with one being deemed winner. The winner will live on to fight another day, but a warning – with 200 possible characters, it may be awhile before round 2 🙂

Twenty-sixth week in the random selection:

Beast Boy vs. Rick Astley (yes, we somehow Rick-Rolled ourselves, what of it?)

  Beast Boy   Rick Astley
Origin Garfield Mark “Gar” Logan contracted a rare illness called Sakutia as a child after being bitten by a green monkey, but is saved when his parents use an untested serum on him. The serum’s side effect turns his skin and hair green and allows him to metamorphose into any animal. Later, his parents die in a boating accident that Garfield feels he could’ve prevented. He is then kidnapped by two men who beat him and force him to use his powers for their crimes. He is later put under the care of Nicholas Galtry. Garfield finds out about Galtry’s embezzlements and Galtry plots to kill the boy. His attempts are stopped by the Doom Patrol and one of it’s memebers, Rita, and her husband adopt Garfield.   Rick Astley is no stranger to love. You know the rules and so does he.
Edge? Rick Astley – he IS the originator. Of everything awesome.
Powers/ Abilities Garfield has the metamorphic ability to transform to any animal.   A full commitment is what he’s thinking of. You won’t get this from any other guy. (read: He’s the ONLY guy in the world with this power… yeah, pretty intense)
Edge? Rick Astley – holds the key to the power of the gingers.
Love Interest Although Garfield has also had a relationship with Terra, Raven is the woman he has dated off and on for years and still loves to this day. Through breaking up, making up, and trying to kill each other, they’ve always come back to one another. In their latest news, Raven turned down Beast Boy’s attempts at reconciliation, but he admits to still loving her.   YOU. Something that this man will not, under any circumstances, give up.
Edge? Rick Astley – he’d have Raven’s pants off 20 minutes ago.
Costume A red and white, or purple and black bodysuit with white gloves. When you have green skin you can down play the costume a bit.   Rick Astley wears a costume of awesomeness. Why do you think Gambit stole his trench coat look (see image below)? There’s a reason Gambit is so good with the ladies. Thanks, Rick.
Edge? Rick Astley – he teaches GAMBIT how to slay b*tches. Come on.
Most Entertaining Personality Beast Boy is often used as the comic relief, but his jokes only mask a deep inner pain. He sometimes struggles with being taken seriously, but is overall upbeat.   He knows the game and we’re gonna play it.
Edge? Rick Astley – He and Chuck Norris are not allowed in the same conversation for fear of our heads exploding from awesomeness.
Best story arch Beast Boy goes to San Francisco to fill in for Owlman at a superhero convention *gives side eye*. After mistakenly beating up a Deathstroke-costumed man, Garfield leaves in a huff. He stumbles upon Wonder Girl and the Teen Titans in a losing battle with Cinderblock. Despite Wonder Girl’s protests, Beast Boy joins the fight and helps them win, leaving after so that the Teen Titans can take all of the credit. Upon returning home, he decides that he wants to join the Teen Titans again as their leader. The Teen Titans are… not so enthused.   Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry. Never gonna say good-bye. Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.
Edge? Why are you even asking? Rick Astley.
Hotness He’s pretty hot for a green guy, but when your competition is the Hulk that’s not saying much.   Umm, yes. Just yes.
Fiercest foe Nicholas Galtry – Garfield’s adoptive father who hired several mercenaries to try to kill him. Seems a bit drastic for not cleaning your room.   Your aching heart, but you’re too shy to say it.
Edge? Rick Astley – Jealousy from everyone in the world is an ugly thing.
Biggest WTF Moment Beast Boy uses his abilities to play extraterrestrial character on a sci-fi TV series canned Space Trek…. Ummm, yeah.   Rick Astley will have a WTF moment when Chuck Norris stops kicking ass (read: NEVER!).
Edge? Rick Astley– Rick Astley doesn’t DO WTF moments and he still wins.
Person who should attempt an on-screen portrayal Rick Astley. Cuz he could play anyone.   Rick Astley… or maybe Chuck Norris.
Edge? Rick Astley. You know what’s up.

Beast Boy: 0

Rick Astley: 10

And the winner is….  King of the Gingers – King Astley, the only (as opposed to the first… because let’s face it, there will never be another).
