Villains and Spoilers Confirmed for X-Men: First Class

Bryan Singer has confirmed that Kevin Bacon will be playing Sebastian Shaw and that the Hellfire Club will be the villains in the X-Men: First Class movie. This explains why Emma Frost is in the movie. Other things were cleared up as well.

*Warning – some minor SPOILERS below*

  • James McAvoy will NOT be bald. (How this makes sense when it’s not a reboot and he was bald at the end of Origins, but OK).
  • We will see Professor Xavier’s accident that leaves him paralyzed.
  • The film will take place in the 1960’s…. wait, what??? Oh, apparently the X-Men are 50 years old in X1,2, and 3.
  • Cyclops, Jean, and Storm will NOT be in the movie. Sigh. So you’re doing a First Class movie with only 1 of the original 5? Makes total sense.

This will be officially horrible. Officially.

No one is as outraged as I? Or have you all just already resigned to the fact that this crap is going to be terrible lol?

I kind of rant about this a bit:
…so, yeah. I’m pretty upset about this whole thing.

One of the other things that got me was Singer saying that Cyclopes may not be in this movie (too young) but his brother (Alex/Havok) will. What is the logic there? In every version Scott is the older brother. By putting Alex in ’60s, most likely as a teen, wouldn’t he be the right age to be Scott’s dad rather than his brother?! Havok being in the movie pisses me off more than anything else about this movie.

I’ll accept that Xavier has hair. Maybe his accident had something to do with that. Or he started to go bald and decided to start shaving it. Whatever. Bacon as Shaw… okay. I like Bacon. He looks nothing like Shaw, but I’ll wait to see him act it out. Though, I think that he would have made a better Sinister than Shaw.
