Casting Update: Spider-Man

According to Filmonic.com, 5 actresses are up for the female lead for the Spider-Man reboot: Ophelia Lovibond, Lilly Collins, Teresa Palmer, Emma Roberts, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. However, interestingly enough they are not up for Mary Jane Watson. It has not been confirmed who the female lead will be – Gwen Stacy, Felicia Hardy, or another character. Black Cat would be cool! Thoughts?

I’m thinking Gwen Stacy – None of these chicks look like they’ve got enough sass for the Black Cat. And I will officially write this off if Emma Roberts is cast.

I’m leaning towards Gwen Stacy. It goes with the reboot/origin idea. Sucks to be that actress though. In the second or third movie she’ll be killed off, since we know that Green Goblin isn’t going to be around in the “first” movie.

But then, since they already had Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen in the last movie, the filmmakers still might be keeping their distance from the first three. So far, the only thing confirmed to be carried over from the previous movies is Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
