Casting Update: X-Men: First Class

So apparently it’s Bryan Singer himself that wants the Twilight kid to be in X-Men: First Class. But, thankfully, it looks like he won’t be able to do it. WTF, Bryan Singer? After X2, we trusted you… and now this? And on top of this there are rumors that Meagan Good is up for an undisclosed part. I have to assume this is Storm, in which case I ask again, WTF???? First Class is Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman and Angel. If you want to do a movie with Storm and Emma Frost and all of these other mutants DON’T CALL IT FIRST CLASS! In other news, rumors are now that Kevin Bacon will be playing Sebastian Shaw and not Mr. Sinister. Hopefully that’s true and it might give a reason for Emma to be in the movie if she’s with the Hellfire Club.

PS This is unrelated but they’re making a Ghost Rider 2 film and Nicholas Cage will be playing the lead role again. I know this doesn’t go here but I honestly couldn’t care enough to give it it’s own post it’s such a joke. Fail.

With respects to Kevin Bacon, to paraphrase Thor: “I say the f*cking NAY!” WTF!?!? You know if I wasn’t already determined NOT to see this movie this would be reason enough not to. This is going from bad to worse.

The Storm thing is simple: This is the reign of the black president and as such movies and TV seem to be trying to shoe-horn an ethnic face into EVERY story, regardless of its relevance. As an ethnic face, I say thee f*cking NAY! If the storyline doesn’t fit, DON’T DO IT!

Lastly, WTF is up with this “Sexmen” thing they are trying to turn this into. THis is NOT Twilight dude, putting young attractive people in the movie is not enough to make it a good movie. I suppose, however, when you’re only trying to sell for a single showing, and not repeat visits to the theater why should you care?

Who says Meagan Good will be Storm? I mean, she could very well be, since Beast and her have the moment in X3. But this will never truly be First Class as the comic fans know it. They had a real opportunity to set things straight (dare I say “reboot”?), but they screwed that up right away.

The Singer/Launter thing is tragic. I guess this shows that Singer has never really read or cares about any of the books after all, since Beast (even before he was blue) was… beastly. If that casting choice went through, then they would have to ugly him up real bad and that would get the Twilight dinks screaming for blood.

This whole thing is a farce. The only saving grace is Matthew Vaughn. I hope the same thing doesn’t happen with X3 and he pulls out because of the stress. The more this movie “takes shape” the less of his touch I see, and the more the studio/producers “vision” is more obvious.

    Damn you, Fox.

Here is the latest, directly from Marvel.com:
    http://marvel.com/news/moviestories.13275.x-men~colon~_first_class_casting_announcements?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Pulse250&utm_term=Link4&utm_content=XMenFirstClassAnnounce&utm_campaign=Pulse250Newsletter07202010

That is a huge link! And here is the IMDB listing of the movie:
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1270798/

They still have Taylor Lautner as Beast (with a rumored tag), even though Marvel announced that other actor. So, I think the Singer/Lautner talks for the Beast role was a rumor or telephone game example. I really doubt Lautner was up for Beast.
