Casting Update: The Avengers

Hello, randomness. Apparently Mark Ruffalo has been offered the role of The Hulk in the Avengers, but has not yet accepted. Who knows whether this will end up happening, so I’m not going to think too deeply about it yet. I like Mark Ruffalo, but have I ever thought of him as Bruce Banner? No. Then again, if this is Avengers timeline, shouldn’t he be 24/7 Hulk at this point? I personally think the Hulk is the most over-rated superhero of all time, so someone help me out here on my Hulk facts…

I like this idea. He is a really solid actor that kind of fits the part. On another site, they posted a screenshot from a movie he did awhile back, he looked all nerdy and Bruce-like.

Bruce Banner only went completely Hulk a few times. The best storylines have been when he shifted between the two. But when he was Hulk 24/7, he was Smart Hulk – the intelligence of Bruce with the look and strength of Green Hulk.

Both 616 and Ultimate versions of the Avengers were formed to fight the Hulk. Technically in 616 (mainstream) they were fighting Loki who was controlling the Hulk.

It sucks that Ed Norton isn’t coming back, for continuity sake, but he took good looking for Bruce Banner. Mark Ruffalo is just nerdy enough to pass.

From all the bits and pieces of info being dropped about Norton not getting the part, it looks like money was the deciding factor. Since Bruce would not be in the Avengers movie too much, it made sense to not pay the actor too much. Because as one site said, the actor playing Hulk would be the furthest down on the money totem pole.

Alright – I’m trusting your judgement on this one since you usually are on the same wavelength haha. I was just watching Shutter Island last night and Mark Ruffalo is certainly a good enough actor I think.
