Casting Update: X-Men: First Class

The newest rumors are that Rosamund Pike, who was being rumored earlier for Emma Frost (who has no business in First Class) is actually up for the part of Moira McTaggert – Professor X’s ex-squeeze. I don’t know how I feel about this until I hear her Scottish accent. If she doesn’t do a good “Chahhhles,” then pass!

The second rumor is that Fox has Amber Heard in mind for a young Mystique. No word as to weather this will be a movie X-Men looking Mystique or one that looks more like the comics. I don’t know this girl’s acting ability, so you guys need to weigh in – is this a good pic? the only problem I have is that she looks very young. While this is First Class, Mystique is a lot older than the X-Men and is said to use her power to cover her age and also have a power that helps her to not age more recently. So Mystique NOW could be 100 years old, meaning Mystique 20 years ago wouldn’t necessarily look so young. Maybe I’m over-thinking it. Thoughts?

I don’t think you’re overthinking on either account.

For emma Frost I’d like to see Charlize Theron, or at least Katerine Heigl. Charlize could play the role with more attitude, but at least Heigl looks the part. Maybe if she studies she could be a good bad-ass.

I’d prefer Rebecca Mader (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1242950/) AKA Charlotte from Lost. She’s got the accent spot on! We’ve even heard her say “Chahhhles” before and NAIL IT without a script dictating it. Can she go on to the silver screen? I think so. She had a bit part in the Devil Wears Prada.. so that’s a start.

I haaaaaaaate Katherine Heigl with a passion, but she would have the bitch part down. I like the Charlize for Emma. I also like Kelly Carlson – Kimber from Nip/Tuck. She does great snooty/sexy/bitchy.

I like the Rebecca Mader suggestion – she’s technically English but I bet she could do Scottish well. I’d be down for giving her a shot for Moira.

For Mystique they should’ve just kept Rebecca Romijn!

PS Making fun of you for watching Devil Wears Prada 🙂

HAHAH @Devil Wears Prada! That movie was bomb. I don’t discriminate, I watch ALL movies. Besides, if women can like comics guys can watch chick-flicks. After all, what do you think Entourage is? Sex in the City for men.

I totally agree with the Rebecca Romjin comment. They’re blowing it there. Why fix what’s not broken. I WOULD like to see them ditch the scales though. That’s just Hollywood fluff. I think they could keep the transformation effect, which was fantastically done. I don’t mind her sans-clothing because if you’re a shape-shifter, why do you need clothing?! But I digress… Romjin IS Mystique to me.

Well technically her clothes transformed with her, so her clothes were “part of her”. So technically she’s not wearing clothes but she is, know what I mean? I’d like to see her in the classic white dress 🙂
