Iron Man 2 – the first disappointment

Apparently The Black Widow doesn’t have a Russian accent. To my friend R2’s point, no accent is better than a bad accent, but there are plenty of actresses that could’ve done a good Russian accent. Almost as if accents are part of the job of an actress…. odd thought, I know. Hopefully the rest of the movie is great enough to make up for this travesty. A non-Russian black widow? Ugh, why don’t you take away Rogue being a southern belle or Nightcrawler being German. It’s just not the same!

I think I’m ok with that. An accent would have been good, but the it doesn’t really show up on page. Not like Rogue, Wolfsbane, or Banshee. Also, the Black Widow is supposed to be one of the best international spies ever, training for that role since she was a child. I think if she doesn’t have an accent, it just means that she is a good spy.

Maybe. I’m hoping I can get past it. But they even “American-ized” her name to Natalie Rushman. I’m hoping it’ll all just be a scam and in the last 10 minutes all of a sudden she’ll be Russian sounding and reveal that her real name is Natasha Romanoff! haha
