Comic Movie Review: The Losers

The Losers unfortunately falls prey to the same fate that a lot of action movies have been recently – the thought that if there’s enough bang-bang, shoot-em-up then no one will ever notice a plot that simply falls flat. An all over the place story line is only made worse by the over-the-top, unbelievable, defies the laws of physics action and random and unnecessary, here-to-give-the-teenage-boys-what-they-want sex scenes. While I’m fine with a little boost of fantasy in the movie world, The Losers relied too much on things “just happening” with no real explanation to move the story in the direction they wanted.

That said, there are some great, funny moments in The Losers and the cast seems to fit their characters well. Chris Evans is always a great fast talking funny man, Jason Patric is a fun, purposely over-the-top villain, and the rest of the characters seem to fall into place fairly easily. For a simple, ludicrous entertainment factor, The Losers does deliver.

That said, if you’re looking for a mindless action film with points of humor, The Losers is a good one to catch. But, if you’re hoping for substance, you may want to look elsewhere.

Indifferently yours,

Rogue 1
